Planning my first trip to Cali. Read through the older threads but wanted to check if info is still current.

My main questions:
1. Best area to stay for easy access to the scene?
2. Realistic daily budget including accommodation?
3. Any areas to avoid?
4. How is the quality compared to Colombia?
5. Best time of day to go out?

Coming from the US with experience in Latin America but first time in Cali.

Any recent reports or recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

Word of caution — do not carry too much cash. Other than that, great destination.

This matches my experience. Cali is underrated.

Been going for years. Scene has gotten busier.

Adding my experience: scene has evolved since pre-COVID. Biggest change: some old spots closed.

I was there in February and prices were exactly as described. Spent about $50/day all-in.

My tip: avoid weekends.

I was there in last month and prices were slightly higher. Spent about $100/day all-in.

My tip: try the local spots away from tourists.
