Safety info for Safety & Police:

General: Reasonable in tourist areas.
Watch Out: Avoid residential areas at night.
Scams: Hidden charges on bills.

How long did it take to feel comfortable and find the good spots?

Not sure I agree about that area. I found a different part to be better value.

Adding my experience from 3 weeks ago.

The scene has changed a bit since pre-COVID. Biggest change: more online activity.

Interesting take but I think you overpaid. Try going midweek next time.

I was there in January and prices were great value.

Spent about $73/day all-in. Quality was good.

My tip: midweek is golden hour.

With respect, my experience was more mixed. But maybe I went at the wrong time.

Good info. I'd add that going during the week is much better — less crowded, better prices.
