Planning my first trip to Photo Gallery in the next few months. I've read through a lot of the older threads but wanted to check if the info is still current.

My main questions:
- Best area to stay for easy access to the scene?
- Realistic daily budget?
- Any areas to avoid?
- How welcoming are the locals to foreign visitors?

I'm coming from the UK and have experience in Europe but this would be my first time in Photo Gallery.

Thanks for any help!

Did you feel safe walking around at night?

Good info. I'd add that going during the week is much better — less crowded, better prices.

I'd rate it similarly. Solid 8/10 destination.

I was there in January and prices were slightly higher.

Spent about $62/day all-in. Quality was excellent.

My tip: midweek is golden hour.

Can confirm. Was there 2 weeks ago and everything checks out.

This is outdated info IMO. Things have changed since the pandemic. Current prices are about the same than what's described here.

I'd also recommend downloading Grab before you go. Essential.

I was there in March and prices were exactly as described.

Spent about $142/day all-in. Quality was above average.

My tip: the late night crowd is different.

Spot on with the prices. That matches what I paid in February.
