I visited Portugal recently for 12 days and had a solid experience.
The scene is Scene has improved recently. Some negotiation possible midweek.
Spent about $102/day on the hobby side. Best part was the variety.
Overall: 8/10. Solid destination.

Not sure I agree about that area. I found the outskirts to be better value.
