Planning my first trip to Brazil. Read through the older threads but wanted to check if info is still current.

My main questions:
1. Best area to stay for easy access to the scene?
2. Realistic daily budget including accommodation?
3. Any areas to avoid?
4. How is the quality compared to Colombia?
5. Any apps to use before arriving?

Coming from Canada with experience in a few different countries but first time in Brazil.

Any recent reports or recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

Spot on with the prices. Matches what I paid recently.

Word of caution — watch out for taxi scams at the airport. Other than that, great destination.

How long did it take to feel comfortable and find the good spots?

Can confirm. Was there recently and everything checks out.

Been going for years. Scene has gotten busier.

Been there 10 times now. Still one of my top destinations. The consistency is what keeps me coming back.

Adding my experience: scene has stayed the same since pre-COVID. Biggest change: more online activity.

Agreed on all points. Make sure to bring small bills.

What was your total spend roughly? Trying to budget for mine.
