Returned from 6 days in Costa Rica. Solid experience.
Accommodation:
Serviced apartment near the main area. $76/night. Quiet area but close to the action.
Scene:
Quieter than I hoped but still good. Prices were fair for the quality.
Quality:
Varied — some great, some average. Had 9 encounters total.
Logistics:
Rented a motorbike for flexibility. Eating out was very affordable.
Safety:
No issues at all.
Overall: 7/10. Would definitely return.
Happy to answer any questions.

I was there in March and prices were about average. Spent about $100/day all-in.
My tip: midweek is much better.

Adding my experience: scene has bounced back since pre-COVID. Biggest change: some old spots closed.

Quick question — how was the ATM situation?

Word of caution — some online profiles are fake. Other than that, great destination.

Word of caution — watch out for taxi scams at the airport. Other than that, great destination.

How long did it take to feel comfortable and find the good spots?

Good info. Going during the week is much better — less crowded and better prices.

I was there in January and prices were slightly higher. Spent about $50/day all-in.
My tip: go early evening.
