Planning my first trip to Costa Rica. Read through the older threads but wanted to check if info is still current.

My main questions:
1. Best area to stay for easy access to the scene?
2. Realistic daily budget including accommodation?
3. Any areas to avoid?
4. How is the quality compared to Czech Republic?
5. Any apps to use before arriving?

Coming from Australia with experience in Southeast Asia but first time in Costa Rica.

Any recent reports or recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

Nice report. Heading there next month — exactly the intel I needed.

First time was overwhelming but exciting. Second time was so much more efficient. Experience makes all the difference.

Agreed on all points. Make sure to get a local SIM.

Did you use local sites or find girls at the hotel?

Been there 10 times now. Still one of my top destinations. The consistency is what keeps me coming back.

Good info. Going during the week is much better — less crowded and better prices.

Also recommend downloading Grab before you go. Essential.

I was there in February and prices were exactly as described. Spent about $150/day all-in.

My tip: avoid weekends.
