Been thinking about visiting Vietnam and wanted to get the latest intel from those who've been recently.

Specifically interested in:
1. Current price ranges
2. Best areas to base yourself
3. Any safety concerns
4. How's the quality compared to the Philippines?

Any recent trip reports would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Adding my experience from last month.

The scene has changed a bit since pre-COVID. Biggest change: more online activity.

I'd rate it similarly. Solid 9/10 destination.

What was your total spend roughly? Trying to budget for mine.

I was there in February and prices were great value.

Spent about $142/day all-in. Quality was good.

My tip: midweek is golden hour.

Spot on with the prices. That matches what I paid in February.

I'd also recommend downloading WhatsApp before you go. Essential.

This is outdated info IMO. Things have changed since the pandemic. Current prices are actually lower than what's described here.

Good info. I'd add that going during the week is much better — less crowded, better prices.

I was there in January and prices were slightly higher.

Spent about $84/day all-in. Quality was above average.

My tip: avoid weekends.
