Planning first trip to Mexico. Need advice on:
1. Best area to stay
2. Daily budget
3. Safety concerns
4. Online vs in person?
5. Duration - thinking 7 days

Tips appreciated.

Great report! Quick question — how was the hotel security?

Solid advice. I'd rate my experience similarly.

How's the weather there compared to the Philippines?

Interesting report but I think you may have overpaid. Next time try negotiating.

Adding to this thread with my own experience from February:

The scene has definitely improved since my last visit in pre-COVID.

Biggest change: Prices have gone up about 20%.

Still a great destination. 8/10 from me.

Agreed on all points. One thing I'd add — make sure to book your hotel in advance.

Agreed on all points. One thing I'd add — make sure to get a local SIM.

How's the food there compared to Colombia?

Spot on with the prices. That's exactly what I paid when I visited in February.

What was your total spend for the trip, roughly? Trying to budget for mine.

Adding to this thread with my own experience from 3 weeks ago:

Things are much the same as always since my last visit in 2023.

Biggest change: Prices have gone up about 20%.

Still a great destination. Solid 7/10.
